Our client, an automotive commercial vehicle dealer group with multiple centres across England, are currently recruiting for a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Technician to cover the Oxfordshire and surrounding region doing mobile and roadside repair work.

Working remotely with a company van, as a Roadside/Mobile HGV Technician you will be required to service, adjust, and repair customer's vehicles or components using tools in a safe and proper manner, efficiently and within the allocated time and to the required standard in the Oxfordshire and surrounding region. Duties may take place on site, at the roadside or at the customers' premises.

Key responsibilities of the Mobile HGV Technician include:
  • To attend and carry out repairs and to recover defective or damaged vehicles within the terms of the law. Fully comply with manufacturer’s protocol and policies and safe working at the roadside.
  • To observe, recognise and report on vehicle or component defects or symptoms of impending failure.
  • To examine vehicles completely and report orally or in writing upon the vehicles condition, safety and reliability and performance (MOT).
  • To interpret and implement technical service instructions data, to ensure a repair or replacement component is replaced or repaired in line with manufacturers instruction.
  • To draw to our client's attention any faults notice in either the interests of the owner or other faults that could make the vehicle dangerous or illegal if taken out on a public highway.
  • To protect all vehicles under repair against damage and to inspect each vehicle for damage and cleanliness upon completion of repair.
  • To attend recognised courses of instruction/training as and when required.
  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the working area, company van and a presentable personal appearance whilst always observing Health & Safety and Environmental Policy.
  • To report any broken or faulty equipment to your supervisor.
  • To always seek permission before fitting parts to customer's vehicles that have not been previously authorised and to always return parts for warranty and customer inspection.
  • To ensure all service and maintenance sheets, customer defect reports, manufacturer paperwork and electronic documentations are fully completed and signed off.
In order to be eligible you will be qualified to a minimum IMI/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair however our client is flexible with qualifications provided you have at least a ten year demonstrable working record as a HGV Technician with experience and knowledge of truck, trailer, van and ancillary equipment maintenance and repairs. Either a HGV driving license or an irtec or tacograph licence would be highly advantageous however is non-essential at this stage along with similar experience in a mobile repair role. You will be required to provide your own tool-kit though.
